FS 026 Writing Assignments

Here are brief previews of your writing assigments for the semester. I will hand out more detailed descriptions for individual assignments as the semester goes on. You should expect to do some form of serious writing or rewriting every week of the semester!

1. Reaction paper to newspaper article linking tonsil removal and grades. [week 1]

 

2. Expository paper on Sampling. [weeks 2-4]

 

3. Critique of Data Graphics in the Press. Peer review and rewrite [weeks 4-6].

 

4. Letter to the Editor on topic of your choice [week 7].

 

5. Paraphrasing and Summarizing exercises with sources [week 8].

 

6. Final Project: Research Paper + Chance Fair Poster (topic of your choice)

Intermediate due dates for proposal, outline and bibliography [weeks 9-12].
